Presenting A2ii’s FeMa Meter, a tool for collecting sex-disaggregated data
Happy international women’s day!
Despite the recent developments on gender equality, women constitute the majority of the world's uninsured population. Furthermore, they are underrepresented in policy-making, insurance company boards, and supervision, exacerbating the challenges they face in accessing insurance.
Why does data matter? The lack of data further complicates the development of gender-sensitive approaches to address these obstacles. In our latest blog, learn about the importance of collecting sex-disaggregated data to address gender disparities in insurance access and coverage.
The FeMa-Meter Toolkit
In response to these pressing issues, the FeMa-Meter is launching today. This is an innovative toolkit designed to collect and review sex-disaggregated data, enabling a comprehensive analysis of differences between men and women on various insurance indicators.
The FeMa-Meter has undergone a piloting phase in Argentina, Lesotho, Pakistan and Zambia, proving to be an effective tool for sex-disaggregated data collection. It serves as a vital starting point towards adopting a more gender-sensitive approach within the insurance sector.
With an easy-to-use interface, the FeMa-Meter allows users to input data within minutes, generating immediate insights through simple calculations.
This tool is now available on the FeMa-Meter page, accompanied by a training module that will guide you through its use and features.
Join us in our mission to promote gender equality and access to insurance through accessible and data-driven approaches.
The FeMa-Meter toolkit was developed with support from the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) during the project ‘Empowering supervisors to improve women’s access to insurance’.
